That's all fine and dandy no we all know that you have to be licensed in California and many other states . What they don't tell you is to get a Contractor license you don't even have to be a U.S. citizen have be High School graduate as it was when I was licensed 23 yeras ago, And they reward the so called "busted" unlicensed contractor by reducing there fine (they cant't enforce because there not licensed) if they get licensed.

Unless it is news worthily they tell you they are under staffed and if you (a licensed contractor) try to report them they question YOU! Do you know the person is he an ex employe? So that take the confidently part out. And the so called deputies are not or in most cases ever been a Contractor in fact in case of an Arbitration they hire current licensed Contractors. So don't expect any help from the state pay check recivers.

The Contractors Board is one of the only State Agencies making money right now, So do you think the state is going to disband that agency any time soon ? NOT!

So consumers be on guard and at least hire a Contractor that is licensed and have the Insurance Cert mailed to you not fake faxed. Good luck consumer and don't take the high bid or the low bid take Mama Bear and check references.

Truly
Dissappointed
PS I thought I was doing everything right then no back up from the agencey that I am governed by.

Thaddeus,

Thank you for your kind words. Vclimber always says that window film does not cool rooms, air conditioners cool rooms. Technically speaking, he is correct. The film you are using will reject 83% of the total solar energy which will reduce the "heat gain" thus making it more comfortable and reducing the load that is placed on your air conditioner. The film that you purchased is very dark and it is also very reflective which is why it performs so well. Professional window film companies carry a variety of films that are much lighter and in many cases far less reflective. A well-trained professional can help you find the right balance between visible light transmittance, film reflectivity, and total solar energy rejection. Many companies offer free estimates as well as comprehensive warranties. You might want to check into this.

Take care,

Dear Joseph,

I have great interest in your blog as it's very informative. Recently, i got a solar film for my room to try out first before applying it to my house. I wonder if this specification of the film i use is good to cool down my room.

I notice that the film i got is too dark.

Kindly advice.

Visible Light Transmittance (VLT) : 6%
Solar Energy Transmittance (SET) : 7%
Solar Energy Absorbence (SEA) : 45%
Solar Energy Reflectance (SER) : 48%
Total Solar Energy Rejected (TSER) : 83%
Ultra-Violet Rejected (UVR) : 99%
Thickness : 1.5 mil

Pallavi,

What Markus is referring too is the fact that this was an article about Llumar's Graffiti Shield product to which you posted that you had this product installed on your storefront but then also posted that more information could be obtained from a competing product's website. He simply posted the correct website address for the product in the article.

We appreciate your comments here but what seems odd are your attempts to post a different link that points to the same place when it is clearly a different product from Llumar's Graffiti Shield. If this is just a simple misunderstanding then I believe it has now been cleared up.

Take care!

I am uncertain of what Markus is refering to,however I am certain of the fact that I utilized the www.shattergard.com company. And once again I was very pleased. It seems odd that this person is posting information about what I did or did not use.

Pallavi is almost right. Their name is LLumar (products) resp. CPFilms (company). I would highly recommend them. Their extensive portfolio of products and services at the safety/security/solar/deco and other fronts is available through a worldwide network of accredited distributors and installers with very knowledgeable contact points in your country, region or city. If you need more info, I think these are two of their websites:
http://www.llumar.com
http://www.llumar.eu
They are very professional and take good care of you.
